The next morning, we explored a little around the hotel. The grounds were beautiful and that was the only time of the day that it wasn't raining. We all took a little morning nap and I cut mine short to visit the Chosun gift shop on base. What a fun shop! The American Forces Spouse's Club buys different items from all over the Pacific and sell it here to raise money. For those who have been to Guam, it's similar to that gift shop on Andersen Air Base.
The rainy weather put a little damper on our plans but we decided to try out the subway system in preparation for our next visit to Seoul. The subway stop was only a 10 minute walk but, we took the cab anyway. The subway system has signs in both Hangul and English so it wasn't hard at all to reach our destination. David was thrilled by the fact that we got to ride the train. We found the Gwanghwamun palace which you can only enter w/a tour - unfortunately we missed the English speaking group. Instead, we had a little udon noodle snack and took notes for next time. We made it back to our correct subway stop but got some wrong directions from a fellow American and ended up walking for 45 minutes trying to get back to the hotel. At least we saw the area around the base plus Seoul tower.
